A collaboration with Disney (Pixar) to create an illustration of their original character, Purl.

Purl is the protagonist of a short film named after her, released by Pixar in Feb 2019 under #SparkShorts.
I loved that they released a film about a literal ball of yarn, and of course, all her personal items are knitted!

My initial idea for this photo was Purl knitting a sweater for herself— until I realised she’s round, and very difficult to fit in a usual-shaped sweater. So I changed the idea to her knitting a sweater out of herself, for someone else!

I used 2mm knitting needles to knit the sweater, including some cable patterns for interest. It was really challenging to knit this in such a small size. The finished sweater measures about 8.5cm in height.
